Reporting to the Director of Recreation Services the Assistant Director is primarily responsible for programs and Kettering Park use. These include but are not limited to: Intramural Sports, Club Sports and special programs. The Assistant Director will assist with daily management of the Connie and Jim John Recreation Center and serve as the Director in the Director’s absence.
A key aspect of the position is the ability to manage students’ recreational needs in an extremely rigorous academic environment. Kettering University is a unique cooperative education private university that maintains two sections of students that rotate 3 month school and work terms. Students are on campus all year long and have very active co-curricular needs. Kettering has recreation facilities comprised of the Connie and Jim John Recreation Center, an 85,000 square foot comprehensive facility built in 1995, Kettering Park-Harris Fields, a 23 acre outdoor sports complex renovated in 2001 and Atwood Stadium, a 10,000 seat stadium serving campus and community events. Policy creation and enforcement

Club Sport travel supervision
Club Sport practice and game scheduling
Club Sport equipment management
Other special programs
Schedule internal use
Approve and schedule limited external rentals
Coordinate maintenance with Grounds department
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Sports Administration or related field.
One to three years of progressive responsibilities in campus or community recreation management. Graduate Assistantships may be acceptable.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups.
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated student centered philosophy.
Computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets.
Master’s Degree in Recreation, Sports Administration or related field or willingness to pursue graduate degree.
First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
