Serving as both an advocate for the client and the University, the Associate Director exists to manage the scheduling, planning, and execution of conferences and events within Student Union and Event Services (SUES)-managed facilities and beyond as contracted.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Optimizing space utilization in meeting, classroom event, and Conference Housing facilities
Oversee policy and procedure implementation in scheduling and reservation processes
Supervise the system support and implementation of diagramming, and event management software for the department
Work directly with UNLV departments as partners for event space collaboration and build a network of spaces to meet student and guests’ needs
Negotiating, updating and ensuring compliance and execution of contract terms, in particular, high profile and multi-service contracts
Coordinating collaborative working agreements between various UNLV service providers and the department
Ensure successful event operation execution including in-house and contracted services/equipment.
Responsible for office service administration, risk management coordination, safety and security of events and emergency response duty as they apply to event services
Direct supervision of three full-time staff who are responsible for supervising other administrative professional staff and 30-40 student staff. The entire functional area is comprised of Scheduling & Conferences (five professional, one classified staff member and approximately 10 students), and Event Operations (three professional and approximately 30 students). Staffing responsibilities include hiring, training, evaluation and daily supervision.
Serves as a member of the SUES leadership team for decisions, direction and planning for the departments operations
Works with staff on strategic planning and achieving short- and long-term objectives
Develops scheduling and event budgets in conjunction with staff and SUES leadership team
Closely works with Sales & Marketing to ensure a seamless operation and process for both internal and external clientele.
Additional responsibilities include ability to work nights and weekends as needed and making recommendations to the Director for policy and procedure implementation.

A Master’s degree from an accredited university and/or institution required
Minimum of four years full-time post-master’s experience with three years’ experience in direct supervision of full-time staff required
Experience with strategic planning and working with area/department planning preferred.
Experience working with developing, monitoring and implementing budgeting preferred.
Successful candidates will have an understanding of student development theory.
Outcomes assessment and analysis experience preferred
