The Coordinator is responsible for the daily management of all wellness programs. This position will work closely with the University Athletic department’s experts to provide collaborative wellness educational programming. Additionally, the position acts as a liaison for the V.R.W.C with University and community patrons.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement inclusive wellness education programming, based on needs of target populations
Continual education and implementation of industry trends and standards for wellness and fitness
Plan, implement, manage, and evaluate current programs, events, clinics, etc.
Coordinate the massage therapy program and handle all hiring, training, supervision of massage therapists, including proper certification and licensure
Provide support in developing and implementing inclusive fitness programming, based on needs of target populations
Provide support for fitness area, including proper maintenance and replacement of equipment
Establish safety policies and procedures in accordance with department and industry risk management plans
Provide support of administrative and supervisory functions for the personal trainer and group fitness programs
Oversee minimum of two part-time employees and evaluate them on a yearly basis
Advise on staffing needs for assigned areas
Assist with yearly budget preparation for direct areas
Provide input and monitor expenditures in accordance with the approved budget
Initiate strategic partnerships with campus and community partners to design educational outreach programs that will positively impact the campus experience
Provide data and maintain detailed records on programs, including records with confidential data
Assist in the production of communications, publications, and outreach material using multiple technologies and social media
Enforce University policies and compliance standards
Other duties as assigned
Hours: This position is exempt and is expected to work Monday through Friday. Weekends, evenings, and on call status required.
Preferred experience and skills
Master’s degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Sports Management, Physical Education, Nutrition, Health Promotions, Public Health or related
Minimum of one year experience working in a supervisory role
Must be able to communicate effectively and relate to patrons
Ability to lift 30 lbs.
Must be flexible and able to adapt easily to changes that occur on short notice
CPR/First Aid/AED, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
Job requires Bachelor's
