The Marketing Manager reports to the Associate Director for Administrative Services and serves as a member of a team that drives all marketing, assessment, special event, and IT needs for the Department of Recreational Sports. The Marketing Manager is responsible for: -Promoting physical activity, well-being, recreational program involvement, membership, recreation facilities, and services -Providing direction and coordination for a comprehensive marketing, communication, and public relations program for the Department of Recreational Sports -Assisting in the development of a comprehensive marketing plan -Overseeing the execution of the marketing plan -Coordinating the department’s promotional materials, publications, websites, and social media -Managing one graduate student and a student staff -Assisting with identifying, obtaining, and fulfilling sponsorships -Assisting with managing and championing the customer-service and internal operations of Innosoft Fusion, the recreation management software program -Developing and maintaining partnerships within the Division of Student Affairs and across campus
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, advertising, or related field. Marketing, public relations and/or advertising experience that includes areas such as developing a marketing plan; creating promotional materials and publications; experience using a content management system to produce and post web content; and planning special events. Excellent communication skills and professional writing skills with strong editing and organizational skills. Experience with current computer software such as desktop publishing and database management.
Preferred: Work experience in a recreation or sports management environment. Knowledge of Innosoft Fusion software.
The Department of Recreational Sports operates within the Division of Student Affairs. The Department maintains two recreation/wellness facilities: McComas Hall and War Memorial Hall. McComas Hall offers three basketball/volleyball courts, an eight-lane indoor swimming pool, a weight training and cardiovascular workout area, two fitness studios, spin studio, fitness assessment center, TRX and cor...e area, locker and shower facilities, equipment check out, an elevated jogging track, and a lounge area. The facility is also home to the Student Health and Counseling Centers. War Memorial Hall offers an indoor swimming pool and diving well, 6 basketball courts, 13 racquetball courts, 2 wallyball courts, a gymnastics room, locker and shower facilities, a handball court, a weight room, volleyball courts, a squash court, saunas, a dance/fitness room, and a multi-purpose room. The Department provides programs and services in open recreation, fitness, aquatics, instructional programs, intramural sports, sport clubs, outdoor recreation and special events.
