The mission of USC Recreational Sports is to provide the university community with opportunities to pursue a balanced, healthy lifestyle through participation in recreational activities. Recreational Sports aims to support our members through fitness and recreational programming, leadership development, training and cross-unit collaboration. Recreational Sports includes the following programs: Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Fitness, Martial Arts, Outdoor Adventure Rentals, Youth Programs, Aquatics, Spirit Groups, Informal Recreational, Facility Membership and Special Events. Our staff works together to provide quality recreational programming, enhance the USC student experience, provide quality customer service, mentoring and professional development opportunities to full-time and student employees.
The Program Specialist will assist in the direction, organization, marketing, supervision and assessment of all aspects of a comprehensive intramural and club sports program for students, faculty, and staff. This position will help manage program development, budget management, hiring, training and evaluating of 60-70 student employees and officials. In addition, the Program Assistant will supervise and staff all Game Management and other special events for the Recreational Sports Department.
Organize, supervise, and evaluate intramural and club sports programs.
Coordinate and schedule intramural program leagues, team entries, playoffs, and extramural participation.
Manage online records relative to program participation and equipment inventory.
Oversee and advise Recreational Club Council (RCC) and RCC Executive Board.
Manage online registration of events, leagues, teams and members.
Supervise intramural, extramural, and special events as assigned.
Manage expenditures and income within an approved budget.
Responsible for training and evaluation of officials and student program coordinators.
Assist in the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures.
Provide leadership and professional development opportunities for student staff.
Supervise and schedule athletic trainers for clinic and program coverage.
Coordinate payroll for all student-workers.
Promote programs through social media, marketing and advertising.
Conduct comprehensive officials’ clinics.
Create an annual review of reports, revise manuals, policies and procedures, and make necessary recommendations for program improvement.
