Position Summary: The Fitness/Wellness Coordinator will report directly to the Associate Director and will have responsibility for all functional operations for the fitness and wellness programs at the Wellness Center.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to direct oversight of all fitness programs, managing group fitness and personal training programs and staff. This position will provide educational workshops, educational opportunities, and specialty programming to engage students and members.
Hire, train, supervise, develop and evaluate Group Fitness and Personal Training Staff
Directly manage a comprehensive fitness and wellness program to include; group fitness classes, personal training, wellness education, specialty programs, and student development
Teach or assist with the ACE educational program - Personal Trainer Prep Course
Prepare monthly and annual reports such as participation, inventory, and statistical reports
Create professional development opportunities for staff, including individual mentoring
Assist with member retention
Build strong partnerships on and off campus with other departments and outside vendors
Assist in providing direction and oversight in accordance with the mission, student learning outcome, and goals of the department, divisional and University
Schedule fitness certifications and workshops through national organizations and/or presenters
Develop and implement continuing education and training for fitness staff
Develop, implement, and manage all policies and procedures that fall with the programming area
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Exercise Science, Sport Management, or related field is preferred
Demonstrated fitness programming and management experience, preferably in a University or scholastic setting
Demonstrated experience supervising and mentoring fitness staff
Demonstrated knowledge in group fitness programming
Demonstrated experience in conducting professional development training for fitness center staff
Certified Personal Trainer (ACSM, ACE, NASM)
Certified CPR/AED and First Aid (Instructor preferred)
