Tuition Waiver & General Activity Fees (GAF):
Full tuition waived, which is a $19,361 value for a two year degree; GAF is the repsonsibility for both In and Out of State students, which is $41.65/credit hour for ’18-19. Total cost to you for a Master’s Degree at SDSU over two years: Approximately $1,500.
Professional Development encouraged; travel stipend provided
Exercise Science and Sport & Recreational Studies
32 credit hours including Thesis; 33 credit hours plus Research paper; or 36 credit hours plus Internship. Exercise Science requires Thesis or Research Paper.
300 combined GRE required for Exercise Science; No GRE required for Sport & Recreational Studies. 3.0 GPA overall.

$14M Expansion Opening in Fall 2018
The Wellness Center is currently under construction for a $14M addition and renovation with an anticipated opening of late fall 2018. New fitness spaces for weight training, cardio, field turf and an additional group fitness studio are included in the expansion. Group Fitness & Personal Training
Assist in the overall administration and management of Personal Training, Group Fitness classes, Living and Learning Community (LLC) programming, Water Safety Instruction program (WSI) and Wellness Center programs
Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating student staff
Develop in-service meetings for personal trainers and group fitness instructors
Manage program development, implementation, evaluation, budget and marketing
Maintain a safe, welcoming environment for a diverse group of participants
Promote general health and serve as an ambassador to Wellness Center users, while providing exceptional service.
A minimum of one year of group fitness and/or personal training experience
Group Fitness - Promote knowledge of proper group fitness components, i.e. warm up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool-down. Have knowledge in current fitness trends, techniques and dynamics of group fitness.
Personal Training - Working knowledge of safe conditioning procedures related to various types of free weight equipment, pin-selected weight equipment, plate-loaded, and cardiovascular equipment. Sport performance and/or small group training experience desired. Recruit clients for Personal Training
NCCA recognized certification (or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire) for group fitness American Council on Exercise (ACE), National Exercise Trainer Association (NETA), or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or an NCCA certification for personal training National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), ACE, NETA, or ACSM)
American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certified (or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire)
Provide leadership within the Wellness Center by providing support to student staff, the Coordinator of Fitness, and the other graduate and full-time staff
Participate in professional staff meetings
Willing to obtain Water Safety Instruction certificate (WSI) within calendar year of hire – desired qualification
Additional Salary Information: Includes full tuition waiver. 2 year degree at the cost of $19,361.
