The Graduate Assistant of Club Sports, under the supervision of the Coordinator of Competitive Sports, is an integral team member of the Competitive Sports program that oversees 20+ club sports teams. As a Graduate Assistant, the candidate will get to be a part of a team that is focused on creating leadership opportunities for our students, creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages and enables students from diverse backgrounds to participate in high level competition, and a consistent focus on excellence.
Responsibilities of the Graduate Assistant of Club Sports include:
Creates, leads, and evaluates Club Sports leadership trainings
Assists in the upkeep and maintenance as well as scheduling for the offsite Sport Club Complex
Assists in compliance and supervision of $130,000+ annual club sports budget
Collaborates with Student Organizations to ensure that all club sports are in compliance with Student Org. standards
Assists in scheduling student workers for club sports events
Assists in allocation of club sports funds
Monitors team rosters for compliance
Orient existing clubs and new clubs with the University policies and procedure
Assists in quantitative and qualitative assessment practices
Oversees inventory management of all club sports equipment
Other duties as assigned
There will be an opportunity for summer employment as a supervisor in our Children’s Summer Sports Camp, which is highly encouraged. In addition, this position will have the opportunity to supervise intramural sports in the second year of the graduate assistantship.
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Must be fully admitted into the Recreation Master’s Program
Must have a current GPA of 3.0 or higher
Must enroll in at least 6 credit hours per semester and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA
A Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, or other closely related field
Strong interpersonal leadership and communication skills are expected
Previous experience in club sports, intramurals, and/or summer camps strongly preferred
