Position Description: Under the Division of Student Affairs, this position supports Fitness and Wellness Services within the department of Campus Recreation. The selected candidate will experience recreation programming through an environment that is hands-on and fast paced with a professional development approach. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation.
Supervision of Group Exercise Program, Adult Swim Lessons, and Outreach Programs
Personnel management: hiring, scheduling, training, evaluating, and development
Serve as a Personal Trainer and/or Group Exercise Instructor
Assist with a variety of special events and programs within Campus Recreation
Administrative duties to include: data collection and reporting, implementation of policies and procedures, assistance with marketing and incentive programs, and reservations
Attendance at meetings and trainings
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education or a related field. Qualified individuals must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates should be organized and detail oriented, professional, value collaboration and have a passion for working with others. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required. Willingness to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends.
Preferred: Successful candidates will have one or more years of experience with Group Exercise or Personal Training within collegiate recreation, including one year of supervisory experience. Candidates must be certified as a group exercise instructor or personal trainer from nationally recognized organization, ACSM, ACE, NSCA or NASM. Knowledge of student development and NIRSA involvement is a plus.

Additional Salary Information: Compensation: This position is a 10-month commitment starting July 2018 through April 2019 with a stipend of $1,500 per month. Hours will vary based on the needs of the department but will not exceed 29 hours/week. Benefits for professional development are provided through conference support, certifications, and others as mutually decided by supervisor.
