Provide leadership as a senior staff member working with the Director and other department members to develop and implement strategic planning, philosophy, policies and processes that ensure the continued growth and development of Campus Recreation.
Make decisions based on alignment with and achievement of the department’s strategic plan and action steps.
Assist with the preparation, management and reconciliation of the program area budgets totaling $900,000 annually.
Monitor the allocation of resources and adherence to university standards.
Thoroughly train, supervise, develop, evaluate and mentor staff.
Foster and promote an integrated team approach and provide for educational development, as well as ongoing performance feedback for employees to promote growth and improved performance.
Assist individual areas within the department in all matters concerning department operation and focus on meeting strategic goals.
Serve as the departmental lead for developing and accessing learning outcomes, writing and implementing surveys, and preparing monthly and annual reports.
Determine needs, establish goals, set direction and evaluate programs provided by the department.
Maintain current knowledge of all areas of responsibility.
Anticipate and identify issues and areas of improvement, and produce viable and logical solutions.
Assist with planning and administration of a comprehensive student staff training and development program.
Chair departmental committees related to areas of responsibility and oversight as needed to meet strategic goals.
Represent the department on division and university-wide committees, and coordinate initiatives as appropriate.
Involvement in professional organizations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
Required Experience: Five years of full time professional experience in recreation programs with one year of supervisory experience.
Required Certification: Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED certification
