The Graduate Assistant for Marketing and Communications will be instrumental in assisting the Assistant Director with the organization and administration of the Marketing and Communications department for Recreational Sports. This position will be afforded a variety of experiences within the department including overseeing a student staff design team, scheduling and attending outreach events, social media management, department photography/videography, website maintenance, and a variety of speaking engagements. The Graduate Assistant must work at least 20 hours per week with Recreational Sports, and should possess an earned Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, design, public relations, recreation, or a related field of study.
Assisting in the administration of the day-to-day operation of the Marketing and Communications department including managing and developing student staff, designing print and digital marketing material, developing and maintaining the department website and social media sites, and assessing engagement through surveys, reports, and analytics.
Assisting with departmental outreach efforts for Rec Sports programs and events each semester including scheduling, training, and staffing marketing tables, speaking opportunities, and social media engagement.
Assisting with developing relationships and generating engagement with university departments, faculty, and staff through meetings, presentations, promotions, and collaboration.
Attending a wide variety of programs and special events for photos, video, and social media use.
Assessing, reporting, and recommending opportunities for growth and innovation within our marketing strategies.
Assisting with a variety of special events and projects for the department, division, and university.
Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications.
Prior experience in marketing, promotions, web development, and/or graphic design.
Prior experience working in collegiate recreation.
Acceptance into the University of North Texas Graduate School, as a full-time (9 hours or more) graduate student.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Salary Information: August 13, 2018-May 31, 2019.This is a 9-month appointment with the possibility of a second year appointment.
