General Statement of Duties:
Under general direction, the Assistant Director for Strength and Conditioning develops and manages comprehensive programs focusing on cardiovascular and strength training, and related personal training services offered by the Department of Campus Recreation. This position reports to the Associate Director of Campus Recreation for Programs and Student Development.
Bachelor's degree and two years fitness/wellness experience in a recreation program required at time of hire. Master's degree in Kinesiology, Sports Management, Higher Education or related field and one year fitness/wellness experience in a collegiate recreation program preferred.
Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills, including but not limited to strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive, and collaborative working relationships.
Ability to prepare and monitor budget information including make purchasing decisions based on best practices, independent research and judgment.
Ability to plan and prepare presentations/training on strength and conditioning and physiology principles to diverse populations.
Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
Ability to train and supervise student employees.
8. Knowledge and ability to interpret industry standards related to safety of participants in fitness and strength training setting as a risk manager.
CPR teaching certification one year from time of hire required.
Current Personal Training Certification through NSCA, ACE, NASM, AFAA or other national recognized agency upon hire required.
PROFESSIONAL STAFF SALARY ADMINISTRATION PROGRAM POSITION LEVEL 25.
