The Office of Campus Recreation at The University of Tampa has an opening for the position Assistant Director, Fitness. This position is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Fitness & Recreation Center, including all fitness programming. This position will report to the Director of Campus Recreation.

Coordinate the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of (1) full-time Coordinator of Facilities and Operations, (3) Student Coordinators (20+) Weight Room Supervisor Staff, (20+) Group Fitness Instructors and (5+) Personal Trainers.
Assist in the preparation and management of a comprehensive budget.
Organize, implement and asses innovative fitness programs including, but not limited to: 55+ group fitness classes per week, personal training and fitness-oriented special events.
Responsible for usage statistics, personal training sales and overall marketing plan for the Fitness & Recreation Center.
Establish and maintain rapport with off-campus vendors who provide preventive maintenance care and supply equipment/inventory needs.
Ensure proper maintenance, cleaning, storage, safety inspections, ordering and inventory of equipment and supplies for all aspects of fitness programming.
Work directly with Coordinator of Facilities and Operations to oversee the use and operation of campus recreation facility schedules and reservation requests for the Fitness & Recreation Center, as well as the Cass Gymnasium.
Facilitate regularly scheduled fitness staff meetings and training sessions.
Assist with the development, implementation and review of all rules, regulations, and policies governing the Fitness & Recreation Center as well as the Cass Gymnasium.
Seek out and collaborate with on-campus stakeholders in order to assist in the implementation of purposeful programming to create an atmosphere that supports fitness and wellness initiatives for the UT community.
Develop and maintain academic partnerships to best serve students in roles of internships and research studies.
Assist with facilitation efforts on the UT Leadership Challenge Course.
Master's degree required. Degree in Exercise Science, Sports Management, Kinesiology, Recreation Management or a related field preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience working at a fitness facility and/or recreation center.
Must have knowledge of the day-to day operational requirements of a fitness center/ recreational facility.
Familiarization with broad range of facility and fitness/sporting equipment
Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and organizational skills needed as well as the ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely.
Must have and maintain nationally recognized certifications in group fitness and/or personal training.
Must have or attain (within 90 days of employment) a valid CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor Certification from the American Red Cross.
