The Rice University Recreation Department is seeking a motivated, outgoing individual to work in conjunction with the Assistant Director for Competitive Sports to develop and sustain a comprehensive Intramural and Club Sports Program that meet the diverse needs of the university community. This individual should be passionate about sports, have outstanding organizational skills, knowledge and experience with college-aged student development and high emotional intelligence. In addition to possessing the necessary skills to serve as a department leader in Competitive Sports, this individual should have experience and interest in teaching a wide variety of sports to various age groups.
Required: Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, exercise science, sports management, or closely related field.
Preferred: Master’s degree in recreation, physical education, exercise science, sports management, or closely related field.
At least one year of experience working with student, athletic, or recreation programs, or other closely related position. Must have a strong officiating background.
Must be highly organized, possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate initiative and creative thinking. Must present a professional image and have excellent written, oral, and presentation skills. Must be comfortable in front of a class. Proven leadership, negotiation, and communication skills including both written and verbal. Outstanding collaborative and motivational skills.
