The Department of Campus Recreation at East Tennessee State University is accepting applications for Coordinator of Operations & Aquatics.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Campus Recreation, the Coordinator of Operations & Aquatics is responsible for the management of the aquatics program of the Center for Physical Activity (CPA). Additionally, this position coordinates reservation requests for use of the CPA and Campus Recreation facility spaces by internal and external groups.
Responsible for the day to day operations of the CPA indoor pool
Recruits, hires, trains, evaluates and manages payroll for lifeguards and swim instructors for an indoor pool in compliance with departmental and University regulations
Coordinates and directs certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid and Lifeguard certification program for student employees and non-credit instructions for community members
Assists in departmental risk management by ensuring all personnel certifications are filed and coordinates departmental wide training of Emergency Action Plan
Lead monthly Lifeguard in-services and insures aquatics staff training is within compliance for operation
Responsible for departmental reservations for use of the CPA and related Campus Recreation facility spaces for internal and external groups including staffing and set-up/tear down
Develops and oversees student focused aquatics programming through creation and implementation of special events program hosted at the CPA pool
Oversees pool water testing, chemical supply ordering and storage in coordination with University facilities
Develops and oversees a comprehensive swim lesson program that serves youth participants
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Sports Management or related field. Two years of experience in aquatics in a lead management role required. American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor required.
Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Sports Management, or related field. Experience in Campus Recreation preferred. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and America Red Cross Water Safety Instructor preferred.
