Under the Division of Student Services, this 9-month position reports to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation. The Sports Programs Intern will assist in the overall administration and daily operations of club sports and intramural sports.
The Recreation Department at Grand Valley State University provides quality and inclusive programming for a university of 25,000+ students, faculty and staff. The department administers 50+ club sports and 1,700+ participants as well as 15+ yearly intramural sports and events, reaching 4,000+ participants. For more information go to www.gvsu.edu/rec. Assist with the administration and daily operations of the intramural sports, club sports and unified sports programs
Assist in the supervision and training of intramural sports officials and supervisors
Lead regular official meetings and training sessions for various intramural sports
Provide event coverage for club sport home events
Assist department with special events
Assist with marketing and promotion of programs
Assist in maintaining program websites
Attend department and division meetings
Duties as assigned
Demonstrated experience and success in the management of intramural sports and/or club sports
29 hours per week during the fall and winter semesters
Frequent evenings and weekends required
Limited work during university holidays and breaks.
$1,500 per month stipend, no benefits. Professional development funding available.
