Oversees planning, assessment and coordination of the student development experience for the department. Manages informal programming, related services and staff for the Student Recreation Center. Supervision includes; undergrad, graduate assistants and maintenance staff for the Student Recreation Center (SRC).
Develops and maintains all SRC student team member training and programming including goals and objectives for the development of student team members.
Oversees the SRC Student Advisory Board which includes advising, educational experiences and professional opportunities.
Interacts with students on a daily basis and offer learning experiences that enhances academic and learning experiences.
Partners with leadership in developing, maintaining and evaluating SRC standards, policies and procedures (including staff manuals, standard operating procedure manuals).
Develops, plans, organizes, schedules and evaluates SRC special events that are offered to the students including social, recognition, and educational events.
Recruits, hires, supervises, mentors, and evaluates student team members and staff.
Manages customer complaints and responds with resolution.
Trains students on First Aid/CPR/AED and PDT as needed.
Manages student team members (front desk; supervisors; rec assistants, equipment management; covering all SRC open hours)
Manages SRC risk management to ensure SRC is compliant with UNCW Environmental Health and Safety, applicable state laws, national standards and regulations. Utilization and implementation of standardized safety practices as necessary.
Identifies potential risk and maintains standards to ensure a safe environment; manages emergency procedures (responsible for being a first responder in the event of an emergency).
Manages maintained staff and housekeepers schedules and any daily, weekly and annual tasks and duties that must be completed as necessary.
Verifies employee work hours and payroll reports; submits payroll paperwork.
Partners with Assistant Directors on SRC programming requirements.
Develops routine maintenance schedules and safety checklists, ensures proper documentation and coordinates inspection schedules.
Minimum 5 year recreational sports programming experience preferred including:
Student supervision at the collegiate level, preferably campus recreation; activity/event scheduling experience; experience with 'athletic complex' operations and risk management.
Special Certification Preferred (all must be obtained within 6 months of employment)
Standard First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C. P. R.), Automated External Defibulator (A.E.D.).
