The Coordinator of Competitive Sports provides oversight of a diverse student competitive sports program. Implements risk management procedures and ensures all clubs adhere to the university and sport club policies. Trains student staff members to oversee intramural sports, sport clubs and special events. Assists clubs with the management of organizational budgets and fundraising strategies.
Essential Job Duties
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the competitive sports program. Develops, implements, and evaluates risk management procedures. Ensures all sport clubs adhere to university and sport club policies and procedures.
Hires, supervises, and trains all sport student staff members to oversee competitive sports activities.
Develops, implements, and coordinates marketing and promotional efforts for the competitive sports program.
Acts as liaison to Student Government to sport club budget allocation and finance code adherence.
Acts as a liaison to the Office of Student Involvement to sport club adherence to Registered Student Organization policies and procedures.
Advises sport club officers and participants.
Assists sport clubs with the development, management, and distribution of organizational budgets. Identifies potential funding opportunities and develops fundraising strategies.
Oversees the financial management of sport club accounts preparation of budget reports, data entry and tracking of all fund appropriations and expenditures.
Schedules facilities for all competitive sports activities. Conducts regular inspections of activities, facilities, and equipment to ensure safety. Reports work order needs to the appropriate person.
Assists clubs with purchase and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Monitors expenditures, researches purchase options, and creates requisitions and purchase orders.
Assists with contract negotiations to purchase and lease equipment for the competitive sports program.
Assists with the implementation of various special event programs for department.
Assists the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports with management of the Sport Club Council and Sport Club Council Executive Board.
Serves as essential personnel and provides assistance in the event of an emergency on campus.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Recreation Management, Sports Administration, or related degree.
Two years of experience in intramural sports, sports clubs, or related field.
Two years of Graduate Assistant and/or intern experience may count as one year of full time experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications or be able to obtain within three months of employment.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Recreation Management, Sports Administration, or related degree.
Two years of professional experience in training student staff members in competitive sports and training intramural officials.
One year of management and supervisory experience in a higher education setting.
