Assist in the administration of all aspects of the Recreational Sports program, which include aquatics staff management, Red Cross administration, swimming lesson administration, event management, and facility management with potential opportunities to work with other programs within the department.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit, hire, schedule, and evaluate Aquatics employees
Assist in coordinating, promoting, and operating summer swimming lessons
Design and implement monthly lifeguard in-service training's.
Assist in planning, promotion, supervise, evaluate and operate Aquatics activities.
Assist with Aquatics facilities maintenance which may include: regular pool maintenance, pump room mechanics, water chemistry, and landscaping.
Maintain daily office hours.
Other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received: Direct supervision received from the Aquatics & Safety Coordinator.
Supervision Exercised: Part-time aquatics staff to include lifeguards, head lifeguards, Red Cross instructors, and swim instructors.
Qualifications: Prior experience working in an aquatics setting, preferably within a higher education setting. Undergraduate GPA of 3.0+ preferred. Full acceptance into a University of Louisiana at Lafayette Graduate Program.
Preferred applicants will possess valid LGI and/or WSI certifications from the American Red Cross, current pool operator’s certification, and have prior experience as a manager in an aquatics setting.
Date: 2-year position beginning in mid-August, 2018 with completion in mid-May, 2020. Appointment is contingent on maintaining good academic standing with the university as a full-time student (9 or more credit hours fall and spring).
Compensation: $950/month stipend plus full tuition waiver (in or out of state). Tuition waiver does not cover student fees.
