ROLE of the POSITION
This position exists to provide leadership, management and oversight for day-to-day operations for Campus Recreational Services facilities during the evening and weekends. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: managing daily facility operations to ensure compliance with department, facility and university policy and procedures; primary professional contact after hours for facilities, fitness, aquatics, outdoors, sport clubs, and intramurals; facility tours and marketing of all the front desk services; equipment inventory; equipment maintenance; communicating APPA cleanliness standards with custodial and student staff; communicating, staffing, facilitating and marketing of all building special events scheduled in the recreation facility; the submission of work orders; responsible for facility preparation and on-site management for meetings, events, and reservations; scheduling, set-up and space needs; strategic planning and assessment; co-supervise 1-2 graduate assistants, (facility operations and membership services), front desk staff of 50-60 students including facility attendants, service attendants, and building managers; directly recruit, hire, train, evaluate and actively mentor student staff; assess student develop and implement program and educational initiatives; observe and resolve risk management and safety issues and provide 24/7 emergency on-call response as necessary. On call response within 30 minutes. Evenings and weekend work required: work week includes Wednesday – Sunday from 12:00pm to 9:00pm with hours sometimes varying between 8am and 11:00pm depending on event needs.

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and 9 months undergraduate and/or full time experience in collegiate recreation, athletics, or commercial/city recreation required. Experience with facility operations, guest services, customer service, and event set up required.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree with two years of relevant experience as a graduate assistant preferred. RecTrac membership database, KX scheduling software, marketing, and cash handling, preferred. Experience with outcomes assessment and analysis is preferred. Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required within 60 days of employment. All successful candidates will have the ability to assess student needs, value a high degree of student contact, interact effectively with a wide diversity of people, have excellent interpersonal skills, communicate well in verbal and written form, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
