Oversee the enforcement of administrative and operational policies and procedures; Develop and maintain accurate records and annual reports; Assist with purchasing, maintenance, and inventory of equipment.
25% Facility Operations:
Daily supervision day-to-day pool operations for the 3 pools (Indoor lap, Outdoor lap, Outdoor Leisure) including water chemistry, safety, and cleanliness.
Direct supervision with administration of extensive training and in-service meetings for all aquatic lifeguard staff; Assist with administration of extensive training and in-service meetings for all aquatic program staff; Development and implementation of staff trainings and meetings for corresponding staff; Direct supervision lifeguard staff, including scheduling and corrective counseling as needed; Collaborating work with UREC Human Resources following all hiring protocols; Assigns appropriate lifeguard staff for events; Direct oversight of Aquatic Supervisors.
20% Program & Professional Involvement:
Provide feedback and support regarding departmental programs, equipment, and operations by conducting daily observations/engaging in programs and using equipment/facilities; Immediately report safety concerns to the functional area supervisor; Be active professionally through research, publications, presentations, speaking engagements, and involvement in professional associations; Represent University Recreation for various University/community functions, committee work, and other duties as assigned; Contribute positively to the work environment by participating in honest dialog that is indicative of the department’s culture of teamwork; Willingly shares all information with department teammates in an effort to provide high quality outcomes that contribute to student success; Maintains positive co-worker relationships and fosters an environment of trust and inclusion; Provide staff coverage during evenings, weekends, and special events as determined by department & function need.
Bachelor's degree with 1 year of work experience in aquatic management with current lifeguard certification from a nationally recognized training provider.
Master's Degree with 2 to 4 years of professional work experience with indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities, including lifeguard hiring and training, planning in-service programming, maintenance of pools and operational experience, swim lessons experience, or additional aquatic certifications (CPO/AFO, Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety, etc.)
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Ability to work flexible hours and the ability to lift 50 pounds.
CPR/FA/AED Certification(s) - Required
Lifeguard Instructor Certification - Preferred
AFO or CPO Certification - Preferred
