40% Program Coordination
Develop, implement, and monitor effectiveness of wellness initiatives and programs to improve employee health and well-being; Develop short and long term goals to encourage University employees to adopt a healthy lifestyle; Educate and communicate to the campus community about wellness and wellness-related programs available to employees; Advertises, markets, and promotes events and related programs through the use of technology, media, and various other communication methods; Coordinates, plans, and evaluates events and programs related to employee wellness; Researches and applies current knowledge of worksite wellness best practices; Maintains confidential files and records in compliance with applicable standards; Promotes program retention and effectiveness through on-going assessment, intervention, evaluation, and participant feedback; Serve as liaison with other campus departments, external vendors, and the community.
20% Personnel Management:
Hire, train, supervises and evaluates graduate and undergraduate student employees, as well as internal and external wellness instructors; Coordinate, advises with the Employee Wellness Advisory Board; Recommend student personnel for advancement, raises, rehire, and/or dismissal; Maintain precise records on wellness sessions/client database; Administer and create weekly newsletters and/or other educational opportunities for staff.
20% Fiscal & Resource Management:
Manages employee wellness program budgets, purchases, equipment, and payroll; Assist with developing annual operating budget; Recommend purchases of equipment, supplies, and materials needed for program operations; Recommend approval for all fees pertaining to participation in the offered programs; Purchase equipment necessary to keep up with industry standards.
20% Program & Professional Involvement:
Provide feedback regarding departmental programs, equipment, and operations by conducting daily observations/engaging in programs and using equipment/facilities; Immediately report safety concerns to the functional area supervisor; Be active professionally through research, publications, presentations, speaking engagements, and involvement in professional associations; Represent University Recreation for as assigned on community functions or committee work; Contribute positively to the work environment by participating in honest dialog that is indicative of the department’s culture of teamwork; Willingly shares all information with department teammates in an effort to provide high quality outcomes that contribute to student success; Maintains positive co-worker relationships and fosters an environment of trust and inclusion; Produces all documentation related to fund expenditures required by the business office; Provide staff coverage during evenings, weekends, and special events as determined by department & function need.
Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion/Education, Exercise and Wellness, or related field with 1 year of experience in health education activities, programs, and services as well as planning, evaluating, and delivering healthcare and wellness information.
Master's degree in Health Promotion/Education, Exercise and Wellness, or related field with 3 years of experience in fitness and wellness programming in a collegiate or corporate setting.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Ability to work flexible hours; some nights and weekends.
Required: Workplace Wellness Certification from Nationally Accredited Association (CHES or NWI preferred)
