The Campus Recreation department is seeking a Director of Campus Recreation to provide direction to team of 9-13 professional staff, 200+ student employees and partner campus staff. This position will report to the Assistant Vice President and Executive Director of Health & Wellness.
The Director's responsibilities will include:
Lead program development and enhancement for intramural sports, club sports, group fitness, personal training, instructional programs, membership services, outdoor adventures, challenge course, aquatic programs, informal recreation and special events that serve FAU students and community.
Support Healthy Campus 2020 initiative and establish collaborative relationships and joint projects to improve campus well-being.
Foster teamwork and collaboration within department, student affairs and greater university community.
Support divisional efforts and priorities.
Oversee department risk management and policy and procedure development.
Serve as advisor to the Campus Recreation Advisory Board.
Strategic Planning and Assessment
Provide accountability to Division of Student Affairs and University Strategic Plan.
Develop and execute department strategic plan and annual assessment plans.
Set annual goals and submit annual report.
Recommend and implement changes based on best practices and benchmarking.
Manage the Recreation & Fitness Center, Track & Field Complex, Henderson Recreation Fields, Ropes Course and Climbing Center, outdoor basketball & tennis courts.
Provide support to partner campus facility management for Davie Wellness Center and Jupiter outdoor spaces.
Develop and execute long range planning for facility enhancements and maintenance through the repair and replacement plans.
Develop annual Student Government and Auxiliary budget requests of approximately $2.4 million.
Administer operating budget and establish revenue targets for the unit.
Monitor budget status and ensure business processes are established, followed and maintained.
Review and approve financial and business processes and requests.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience required.
