Georgia Institute of Technology's Campus Recreation Complex has an immediate need for an Assistant Director - Member Services & Staff Development
Job Purpose: Plan and direct one of the following functions within the Campus Recreation Center (CRC) organization: membership services, facilities/operations, intramurals/sport clubs, fitness programs, or aquatics. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
Organize and oversee the daily operations of assigned area of responsibility ensuring that functions are carried out consistent with policy.
Formulate and oversee implementation of policies and procedures for area of responsibility.
Monitor assigned program results; take corrective actions or implement enhancements as appropriate.
Plan and direct promotional efforts for assigned function or programs as appropriate.
Formulate and, on approval, administer operating budget for assigned area.
Train and supervise assigned staff.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Impact & Influence: This position will interact on a consistent basis with: other CRC management and professional staff, Student Affairs management, coaches, volunteers, various student groups and alumni and representatives of Risk Management and Legal Services. This position typically will advise and counsel CRC management. This position will supervise: assigned CRC staff.
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Experience: Three to five years job related experience
Certifications: Varies with functional assignment but may include Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or equivalent and Ellis and Associates, Inc. Lifeguard Instructor or equivalent, First Aid, CPR and AED training.
Skills: This job requires management skills as applied within a large recreational facility coupled with specialized knowledge in area of responsibility which may include: membership services, facilities/operations, intramurals/sport clubs, fitness programs, or aquatics. Additionally, skills in supervision, training, relating to diverse groups, budgeting and use of office and specialized computer applications are required.
Preferred Education: Master's degree
Preferred Work Experience: N/A
Preferred Certifications: Varies with function assignment but may included CPR, First Aid and AED instructor certification; sports officiating certifications, national certification in personal training (ACE, ACSM, NCSA) and group exercise (ACE, AFAA, ACSM), Water Safety Instructor Trainer, SCUBA.
