Assist with management of Outdoor Adventures (OA) for Campus Recreation Services. Outdoor Adventures provides the University community with outdoor equipment rentals, cooperative adventure trips, outdoor resource center, special events, and programming. In collaboration with the Administrative Manager, organize, manage, and supervise daily operations of Outdoor Adventures. Assist in administration of an extensive rental operation, which includes inventory control, maintenance, replacement, system software, repairs, and merchandise inventory. Assist in management of the resource library, maps, information access.
Supervision of the Cooperative Adventures Trip program, which provides the University community with a diverse schedule of outdoor adventures each semester. Hire, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate graduate assistants and trip volunteers. Work in partnership with volunteers to schedule trips, obtain permits, organize transportation, plan provisions and equipment, program assessments, and conduct pre and post-trip meetings. Ensure compliance with Campus Recreation Services and University policies and risk management protocols.
In collaboration with the Administrative Manager, manage and organize the following: academic and student services partnerships; supervision of student interns; administration of special events; establish guidelines and procedures for OA; ensure compliance with policies and administrative requirements; prepare and submit required program information; supervise graduate assistants who collaborate programming for the residence halls and student orientation programs.
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency. Two year’s full-time experience in the management of an outdoor recreation program or equivalency; demonstrated knowledge of the technical skills related to outdoor recreation equipment and programs; experience in leadership and coordinating outdoor adventure trips; instruction in outdoor activities; product procurement; knowledge of risk management and environmental facilities; Certification in CPR & First Aid (Wilderness First Responder preferred), excellent guest service skills and a valid Driver's License required. Masters preferred.
