Can you support teens of all races and genders to develop lifelong healthy habits? Do you believe in education that supports high school students’ gifts and passions? Can you inspire students to examine their lives and world in a deep and critical way?
If so, you may be a fit for our PE/Aquatics/Health position. Officially titled "Human Performance Center Instructional Specialist," this job allows you to further health and wellness at our diverse, residential high school. Job responsibilities include teaching high school courses on aquatics, fitness, and health, running a weekly intramurals program, and running morning exercise for students.
At Eagle Rock, our teachers work together to develop empowering active learning opportunities for our students. We care about each other’s success, our student’s experience, and work hard to constantly innovate. We are committed to our students and through that experience, contributing to progressive secondary school reform efforts across the country. If you haven’t had a chance yet, check out our website (www.eaglerockschool.org) to get a better feel for the School and Professional Development Center. We’ll be honest; Eagle Rock isn’t for everybody. If you believe students need to be “taught lessons,” you think instructors should follow a set of standard curriculum documents, or that learning should only occur during the traditional school day, this school is not for you. If you are looking for a job rather than a lifestyle, you won’t fit here. But if you have an inherent trust in the ability of students, a passion for empowering young people to take charge of their health and wellness, and an understanding that learning happens beyond the classroom time and school walls, then we want to hear from you.
We are on a short timeline, so please feel free to directly email Sarah Bertucci, Director of Curriculum with interest and/or questions. (firstname.lastname@example.org). For a more detailed job description, check out our employment page at our website: eaglerockschool.org/about-us/employment/.
