The Fitness & Wellness Graduate Assistant will work directly with the Program Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness to develop and manage a comprehensive group exercise and personal training program, emphasizing student development, health and wellbeing, through group and personal instruction. This assistantship is designed to pair with a course of graduate study and effectively develop a high-functioning student leader into a capable student affairs professional, with a solid base of experience and proficiency in the full scope of necessary competencies.
Assist with all facets of the Fitness & Wellness area, including management of the Group Exercise and Personal Training programs and student
Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, timekeeping, supervision and evaluation of student staff.
Co-instruct the Personal Training and Group Exercise instructor training courses.
Oversee scheduled programming for Group Exercise and Personal Training.
Assist with budget creation and management.
Assist with maintaining Group Exercise and Personal Training equipment and inventory and assist with maintenance and purchasing of equipment and inventory.
Assist with the planning and development of Fitness & Wellness programs and events.
Assist with the development of semester/monthly staff meetings and trainings.
Attend and complete UTSA and Campus Recreation required trainings and workshops.
Experience in planning, supervision, program development.
Excellent written and oral skills and the ability to work with diverse groups.
Working knowledge of audio/visual equipment, PC hardware and Microsoft Office software.
Group Exercise and/or Personal Training primary certification (AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NSCA or similar)
American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED
Successful completion of criminal background check.
Additional Salary Information: Compensation
•$16.35/hour at 20 hours/week.
•50% of health insurance premium paid.
