The Department of Campus Recreation within the Division of Student Affairs at Utah State University seeks a positive, collaborative, and dynamic individual to join our team as our Assistant Director of Competitive Sports. Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Programs and Assessment, the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, and daily operations of all aspects of the Utah State University Club Sports, Intramural Sports, and Unified Sports programs. This individual will be a key team member of the Campus Recreation Department, which provides aquatic programs, club sports, fitness/wellness, intramurals, outdoor recreation, special events, extramurals, and collaborative programs.
Provide leadership and oversee the development and operation to the Club Sports, Intramural Sports, and Unified Sports programs consisting of 21 clubs with 450+ participants and 60+ leagues and tournaments with 4,500+ Intramural participants.
Develop policies and procedures for all Competitive Sport programming.
Compile, prepare, and maintain records for Club Sports and Intramural Sports such as budget, participation numbers, injuries, and incident reports.
Develop program supervisor manuals, officials training manuals, and a comprehensive staff training program.
Responsible for inventory and maintaining Club Sports and Intramural Sports equipment
Assist in the development and implementation of Risk Management protocols for Club Sports and Intramural Sports programs.
Responsible for scheduling and coordination of all Club Sports practices and games and Intramural Sports leagues, tournaments and extramural events.
Serve as Advisor to the Club Sport Executive Council, to insure all national governing association’s guidelines are enforced.
Develop and oversee club-to-club incentive program.
Work evening and weekends when necessary regarding Club Sports and Intramural Sports events.
Understand and represent the mission and vision of Utah State University Campus Recreation Department.
Develop and oversee the Intramural Greek Cup Point System.
Assist with the marketing and promotion of the Club Sports and Intramural Sports programs.
Serves on departmental, university, and/or national committees.
Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of one full-time Athletic Trainer, two Graduate Assistants, Competitive Sports Supervisors, student officials, and other support staff.
Research, develop, monitor, and adhere to the Club Sports and Intramural Sports program budgets totaling over $575,000.
Oversee program payroll, tracking, and approvals.
Manage sponsorship donations from USU Dining Services and USU ROTC.
Research & Assessment
Evaluate all Club Sports and Intramural Sports programs and services to determine overall effectiveness and satisfaction to decide on possible changes as deemed appropriate.
Assist in the development and implementation of the Club Sports and Intramural Sports research and assessment agenda to include development of student and program learning outcomes.
Prepare written communications such as monthly reports, annual reports, participation statistics, etc.
Actively participate on a variety of Aggie Recreation Center, Campus Recreation and University committees as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university preferably with a major in sports management, recreation administration, physical education, kinesiology/exercise science, business administration, or a related field.
Equivalent of four years full-time, professional level experience managing and developing Club Sports and/or Intramural Sports programs or other community recreational programs during which time the applicant has acquired and demonstrated the ability to perform the essential duties of the position.

Master’s degree in related field.
Two or more years of professional experience developing Club Sport and/or Intramural Sport programming in a collegiate recreation setting.
Certified Athletic Trainer.
Certification as a High School or College official in a major sport(s).
Standard Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED and/or instructor certification
Active involvement in NIRSA – Leaders in Collegiate Recreation.
Additional Salary Information: Opportunity Type: Full-Time w/excellent benefit package
Percent of Time or Hours per Week: 40 hours per week
Advertised Salary: Range of $45,000 - $48,500, commensurate with experience.
