Job Description: SUNY Delhi seeks a dynamic, forward thinking and engaging Natural Resources and Recreation Sports Management Faculty member to join the School of Veterinary and Applied Sciences starting in the Fall 2018 semester. The Natural Resource Recreation and Sports (NRRS) program recently launched a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Recreation and Sport Facility Management. In addition to this new program, we currently offer Associate in Applied Sciences (AAS) degrees Recreation and Sports Management, Adventure Recreation, and Park and Outdoor Recreation. Each of these programs are designed for seamless transfer in our BBA program. We also offer an Associate of Science degree in Physical Education Studies. As a component of the AAS program in Recreation and Sports degree students are also afforded the opportunity to complete the necessary coursework required to obtain a New York State Coaching Certificate.
The State University of New York (SUNY) Delhi owns and operates several recreational venues which include outdoor resources such as an 18-hole golf course and a 50 acre outdoor education center. Additionally the College is home to Clark Field House, which serves as the home to the NRRS academic programs, as well as the Athletic Department. Kunsela Hall houses our college pool and racquetball courts. Each of these facilities serves as an educational center and learning lab for the Applied Science academic program.
The core courses of the NRRS program emphasize theoretical and practical application of park, recreation, leisure, and natural resource management. Small class sizes allow for more individual contact between instructors and students. This one-on-one, hands-on atmosphere is the cornerstone of our program. Collaborative efforts with our Athletic and Intramural programs can play a significant role in this experiential learning.
Participate in annual systematic assessment of program
Participate in analyzing data and makes recommendations for curriculum and programmatic revisions where necessary
Provide evidence-based instruction in accordance with the policies set forth by the College
Post and keep regular office hours for the convenience of students
Participate in the assessment of course, student learning, and program outcomes
Incorporate student service learning opportunities
Assist in advisement of students
Guide and counsel students toward personal and career development
Track student's completion of progression requirements

Pursue scholarly interests
Primary teaching responsibilities include upper division and lower level courses within the Recreation and Sports Facility Management program. The candidate should have professional experience with the overall operation of various recreational and sports venues, including but not limited to, arenas, stadiums, fitness centers, aquatic centers, and parks. Preferred experience should include recreational programming and leadership, facility operations and maintenance, event management, capital planning, and marketing. Candidates with experience in public recreation and/or administration are encouraged to apply.

Master's degree in Sports Management, Recreation and Leisure, Parks and Recreation, Tourism, Management or other closely related discipline
Professional teaching experience
At least three years of professional experience in a leisure services related field
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record by time of appointment
Previous on-line instruction
Experience teaching above-mentioned courses at the college level
Ability to engage in scholarly activities
Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong attention to detail; and computer skills
Demonstrated ability to teach diverse populations
Understanding the value of civic engagement
Salary $50,000 - $52,000
This is a 10 month academic year, tenure track position
