OVERVIEW: The graduate assistant for student recreation will provide general oversight for the entire department to include, but not limited to: intramural sports, club sports, facility operations, fitness programs, wellness programs, and special events. The graduate assistant will assist the Director and Assistant Director in all aspects of the Student Recreation Department at LTU.Intramural Sports•Organize intramural leagues and tournaments for LTU students•Record stats, scores, and participation numbers for all intramural events•Market and promote intramural leagues and tournaments to increase participation •Assist in the training of student staff (officials, stat/score keepers, supervisors, etc.)•Provide supervision of intramural contests on a regular basis Club Sports•Assist interested students in starting club sports•Provide general oversight of the club sport program Facility Operations•Identify general maintenance needs for the facility•Oversee student desk staff•Schedule student desk staff and serve as their direct supervisor•Forward any maintenance issues to the Assistant Director/Director•Manage the facility’s master calendar for court reservation Fitness/Wellness Programs•Help promote Tech Rec Fitness programs•Identify special events for the fitness program•Increase student participation in LTU’s fitness/wellness program Any questions please email: email@example.com or call 248-204-3854
Required •Bachelor's degree in Sport Management, Recreation Administration, or related field.•Admittance in Lawrence Tech’s graduate school. •Previous experience working in an athletic and/or recreation department.•CPR/AED Certification (or ability to obtain certification upon start).Preferred •Experience officiating multiple sports •Previous work experience in both athletics AND recreational sports•Previous work experience as a supervisor of student staff*Please send cover letter, resume, and references via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additional Salary Information: The Gradaute Assistant will receive a tuition waiver for three (3) credit hours per semester. The GA will be responsible for the remaining credits and must be a full time student. Lawrence Tech will provide housing for the student. Lawrence Tech will also provide the GA with a meal plan.
