The Assistant Director, Campus Recreation (Outdoor Adventures) is responsible for developing, promoting, and coordinating all aspects of an outdoor adventure and experiential learning program for students. Components of the program include developing and leading a series of trips, the hiring, training and evaluation of student trip leaders, management of a gear rental operation, and the development of teambuilding workshops and seminars. This position will conduct ongoing assessment to evaluate risk management procedures, student learning and satisfaction and program success. The Assistant Director, Campus Recreation (Outdoor Adventures) will support university orientation efforts by identifying unique opportunities for new students to connect to the institution and one another. The Assistant Director, Campus Recreation (Outdoor Adventures) has primary responsibility for program development, budget management, risk management, and the training of student staff. This individual is a vital member of a Campus Recreation team of professional staff and as such will contribute to the facilitation, promotion and growth of recreational programs for the department and university community, assisting with departmental special events and serving on university committees. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Programs
Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Sports Administration or a related field and two years of related experience OR a High School Diploma and eight years of related experience.
Must have a valid and unrestricted (not including corrective lens needs) U.S. Driver’s license, and must meet the Tulane University Motor Vehicle Policy criteria to become authorized as a driver.
Two or more years of professional experience in the field, Graduate Assistantship is acceptable.
Current certification in Wilderness First Responder
ACA or other nationally recognized Canoe/Kayaking Instructor Certification.
AMGA, PCIA or other nationally recognized Climbing Instructor Certification.
