Responsible for the management of the aquatics area including staff, safety, scheduling and instruction for physical education, intramural and recreation aquatics programs. Assist with the management and supervision of the comprehensive intramural sports programs and activities.
1. Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct all aquatics staff to ensure certification and knowledge of the facilities and safety for all patrons and guests. 2. Manage the instructional swim program including certification based classes and creation of on-going aquatics staff training. 3. Work closely with the Director of Recreation on facility usage, risk management procedures and general pool operation. 4. Manage the recreational swim program including member recruitment and creation of new activities. 5. Assist Director of Intramurals to interview, hire, train, evaluate and supervise intramural staff, students and officials. 6. Assist in scheduling intramural tournaments, leagues and events. 7. Conduct captain’s meetings and service as commissioner for select intramural sports. 8. Instruct Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology activity classes. 9. Assist with mentoring and training intramural sports supervisors and sports officials. 10. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives. 11. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
• Bachelor’s degree in recreation management, physical education, kinesiology, sports management or related field. • Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI)
• One to two years of experience with college/community aquatics and/or intramural sports or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • One to two years of experience as a swim instructor.
Additional Salary Information: Negotiable Based on Experience.
