Administration of all aspects of the club sports program which include but not limited to: Club Sport officer training, student/leadership development, advisor training, budget, policy creation, travel, equipment purchasing and inventory, participant eligibility, knowledge/enforcement of national governing body standards and rules, coaches, indoor and outdoor facility reservations, marketing, and risk management.
Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating a graduate assistant, program assistant, student supervisors or other types of employees for the Club Sports program.
Assist with oversight/creating of university and foundation accounts for all Club Sports.
Serve as a liaison to the Club Sports Advisory Committee.
Recruit new club teams and participants.
Develop, supervise, and evaluate full time and part time personnel.
Develop and enforce program policies, procedures, and protocols (staff manuals, program handbooks), framed around fostering relationships with participants and campus partners, developing excellence in student staff, and aligning with University and Student Standards and Conduct policies.
Compile and evaluate information and statistics for activity, semester, and annual reporting.
Create and implement short and long-term goals for use in program area assessment, learning outcomes, and strategic planning, as well as, participate in needs assessment for program and facilities.
Prepare and administering of a planned budget for the Club Sports Program, including monthly budgeting, payroll, and maintenance and equipment.
Collaborate with the Student Life Marketing individual to design and implement an effective marketing plan for the Club Sports Program.
Utilize program and departmental software and applications including Fusion, payroll software and others.
Purchase, maintenance, and long-term planning of inventory, including equipment, uniforms, and awards.
Oversee and or delegate maintenance and set up of all facilities utilized by the Club Sports program, perform risk management checks and observe participant behaviors in the Club Sports program.
Assist with planning and participate in University Recreation’s departmental events and activities.
Participate in the development of learning outcomes, strategic planning and other departmental initiatives.
Assess risk management policies and procedures and maintain program compliance.
Attend Department of Campus recreation meetings as scheduled.
Serve on campus and departmental committees as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of related experience in a field related to Recreation, Sports Administration, Health/Physical Education, and/or Exercise Science. Related professional work experience to include experience in the following areas:
Programming experience, supervision, organizational tasks and training.
Experience with program budgets and risk management procedures.
Professional working experience in the administration of a student organization/club sports/competitive sports program.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Recreation, Sports Administration, Health/Physical Education, Exercise Science, Higher Education or related field + 2 years experience in college/university campus recreation program.
Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of sports rules.
Experience in the administration of comprehensive Club Sport program at a college/university with enrollment of 6000 or more.
Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills specifically problem solving and conflict resolution are essential.
Team oriented and able to work offsite and independently to work on multiple tasks
Demonstrated professional involvement such as presenting or committee work, particularly involvement with organizations such as NIRSA, NRPA, NASPA or ACPA.
Current CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain CPR/AED certification within one month of start date.
