The Assistant Director of Intramural Sports is responsible for developing, promoting, and coordinating all aspects of an Intramural Sports program for the Tulane community. The Intramural Sports program offers league sports, tournaments, and special events with approximately 200 teams and 1700 students participating in weekly games. This position hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates over 50 part-time student IM officials and supervisors. The Assistant Director of Intramural Sports has responsibility for establishing risk management procedures relevant to this functional program area and conducting facility inspections and staff training regularly to review procedures. Additional responsibilities include payroll processing, field reservations and scheduling, data management and reporting, and staff development and evaluations. This individual is a vital member of a Campus Recreation team of professional staff and will contribute to the facilitation, promotion and growth of recreational programs for the department and university community, assisting with departmental special events and serving on university committees. This position directly reports to the Associate Director of Programs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience OR high school diploma and 8 years of experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY
Ability to obtain CPR and Standard First Aid certification
Knowledge of officiating with the ability to train, supervise, and evaluate officials
Demonstrated knowledge of Intramural sports and the ability to program for diverse populations.
Ability to work independently, and as part of a professional team.
Willingness to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Knowledge of Microsoft computer applications.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Master’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management or related field.
Two years of experience in a college or university setting.
CPR and First Aid Certification & Instructor Certification.
