Reporting to the Director of Recreational Sports, the Senior Recreational Sports Coordinator for Intramural Sports will be responsible for the following duties:
Works primarily as the on-site manager of the evening and weekend leagues and events associated with the Intramural Sports program in the Lerner Health and Wellness Center.
Directly supervises a team of student and temporary employees tasked with operating the Intramural Sports program and its 3,500 participants. Is responsible for hiring, training and evaluating staff to include: conducting multi-day training clinics for officials and assisting in the organization of a training program for intramural sports student managers and other key student staff.
Oversees payroll and operations budget for intramural sports activities.
Responsible for completing payroll entries into timekeeper program for all student staff employees at Lerner Health and Wellness Center.
Oversees scheduling of facilities to accommodate intramural activities throughout the year and collaborates with facilities and scheduling personnel.
Assesses programming effectiveness and satisfaction within intramural sports as it relates to industry trends on a yearly basis.
Works with Lerner Health and Wellness staff to organize special events in the facility including scheduling facilities, correspondence with students/group hosting event and scheduling employees.
The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom campus in Washington, DC but may require travel across the United States. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Demonstrated proficiency with using IMLeagues software to manage Intramural Sports rosters, teams, and leagues.
A Sports Officiating Certification in any major team sport
Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated experience with hiring, training, evaluating and scheduling student intramural sports officials in soccer, basketball, football and volleyball.
Ability to organize workflow and coordinate activities.
Experience completing payroll entries into Timekeeper Software systems for student employees
Professional experience developing Intramural Sport programming in a collegiate recreation setting.
Willingness to promote Intramural Sports programming through various social media platforms.
