Under the supervision of the Director, with some latitude for independent judgment the Associate Director initiates and coordinates all ARC wellness and recreation programs, represents the department to all individuals who utilize the ARC facility, and shares responsibility for the supervision of all of the activities that occur in the facility. The Associate Director will act as the direct supervisor for the Coordinator for Recreation. The Athletics and Recreation Department is committed to providing a wide range of activities and services that assist Pratt students of various backgrounds and abilities in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Initiates, coordinates and supervises Athletic and Recreation Wellness Programming, in consideration of the variety of racial, ethnic, religious, gender, sexuality, geographic, cultural, age, physical ability, and socioeconomic groups with which students identify.
Effectively and actively promotes and markets all recreation and wellness initiatives and fosters a positive environment in terms of diversity & inclusion.
Directs Intramural programming.
Plans and organizes PrattFit group fitness classes.
Recruits and hires fitness instructors.
Provide onsite supervision for special events.
Develop, initiate and maintain personal fitness training sessions.
Participates in strategic planning and assessment of ARC goals and objectives.
Maintain the care of recreation equipment. This includes the yearly maintenance and purchasing of equipment.
Produces the PrattFit promotion newsletter and other recreation promotional material.
Collaborates with Coordinator of Health Education and Promotion on wellness programming.
Maintain and Expedite alumni and community membership procedures (i.e., input member information to generate Pratt I.D. Card, generate receipts for collection of membership and locker fees, maintain membership and fee related records, etc.).
Provides advising for recreation related student clubs.
Oversees selection and supervision of student work study program for front desk and fitness center.
Develop and initiate training for work study students in coordination with the Associate Director of Athletics for Facilities and Events.
Collaborates with staff to provide training for student employees.
Direct supervisor for (1-2) coaches.
Point of contact for club sports.
All other duties as required.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
Experience: 2-3 years' experience in campus recreation preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Exceptional organizational, management, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with initiative, critical, and creative thinking.
Knowledge of principles of diversity and inclusion; ability to work well with diverse populations; and demonstrated level of cultural competence.
Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and a positive attitude.
Preferred NCAA experience.
License: Valid NYS Driver's License.
