The Campus Recreation Complex of Georgia Tech has an immediate opening for an Assistant Director - Aquatics!
Job Purpose: Supervise and coordinate competitive and recreational aquatic facilities and events to include safety, sanitation, and maintenance of all aquatic spaces, related physical and mechanical pool filtration systems and competitive timing and scoring equipment. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
Identify standards and coordinate with facilities and building services personnel to ensure proper operation and maintenance of all aquatic facilities to meet or exceed State Health Regulations and National Standards.
Plan and manage aquatic facility rentals for special and competitive events with internal and external clients. Serve on the Event Management team responsible for the administration of NCAA and other events of local, regional, and national significance.
Maintain working knowledge, inventory and maintenance of the scoring and timing equipment.
Coordinate, train, and supervise aquatic staff to assist with the maintenance, set-up and operations of facilities to include daily operations and special events.
Manage and maintain adequate inventory of supplies, equipment and chemicals to safely operate all pools and serve as Hazardous Materials Coordinator for the CRC Dept.
Assist the Associate Director in preparing and tracking the maintenance portion of the annual Aquatic budget.
Develop and implement a reporting and record-keeping system to include preparing reports on aquatic facilities and equipment, tracking pool operations and performance along with tracking the pool operational history.
Coordinate major repairs and renovation projects with GT staff and outside contractors when necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Information: May be required to work some evenings and/or weekends for aquatic events.
Impact & Influence: This position will interact on a regular basis with: staff and aquatic facility customers and event administrators. This position typically will advise and counsel: Aquatic and CRC management. This position will supervise: assigned aquatics staff.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Experience: Two to three years job related experience
Certifications: Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO); American Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid; use of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Skills: Demonstrated successful experience in aquatic facilities management; excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective organizational and interpersonal skills; experience managing and supervising employees; and demonstrated knowledge of aquatic event management. Knowledge of advanced competitive scoring and timing systems.
