Emporia State University is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Recreation Services. The Assistant Director of Recreation Services is responsible for the administration and management of the Intramural Sports Program by providing intramural leagues, intramural activities, and special events for both individual and group participation opportunities for the university community. This position will also assist in managing the recreational facilities, and fitness/wellness programing. Responsibilities include the areas of administration, student/staff hiring development, program development, program promotion, and public relations. The Assistant Director of Recreation Services reports to the Director of Recreation Services. This position is an unclassified administrative, full-time 12 month appointment.
Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in Recreation Administration or a related field and previous experience in a university recreational setting. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or a related field; and at least 2 year’s experience in a supervisory position in a recreational setting. Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong organizational skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups including students, faculty, administrators and external service providers are necessary.
