UCLA Recreation invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Program Director of Competitive Sports. We seek an individual with proven leadership experience, with a creative mind, comfortable working in a team environment, and managing a large workload. The Competitive Sports program offers an array of Intramural and Extramural leagues, activities and events, a multi-tiered club sports program, martial arts and sports classes, a comprehensive employee and student officer training program, and field management. This position will report to the Associate Director of Recreational Activities.
Program and Personnel Administration - 60%
This position will play a vital role in the direction of our Competitive Sports program moving forward. It will direct how we will train, develop, and supervise our student participants, officers, employees (students, coaches and instructors), and volunteers including the development of training programs and sessions as well as their materials. The Program Director will have responsibilities related to all aspects our programs including the supervision of full-time staff. This staff is inclusive of our Competitive Sports Coordinators and Instructional Programs Coordinators. It will be this person's responsibility to provide proper training to full-time staff in order to orient them to department and campus policies. This person will also be responsble for goal setting, setting performance measures, creating organizational operations, and both periodic and annual evaluations.
Budget Administration - 25%
Budget analysis and reporting will be a key aspect of this person's responsibilty. You must be able to forecast future expenses and determine what programs are necessary and important moving forward. This person must also monitor each club team's campus account(s) to make sure they stay in good standing. This position is responsible for the allocation process within club sports.
Marketing and Other Opportunities - 15%
This position will work with our marketing department to develop strategies for increased awareness and participation within our programs. This position will manage our social channels and direct content for our programs through the different mediums. You will review and evaluate our ongoing efforts and suggest new opportunities as needed in regards to collateral or online presence. Work with our technology vendors to make sure our participants are enjoying their experience when using our systems and look for ways to improve their experience.
The Program Director will display a strong professional presence, have the ability to communicate in writing and orally with students, staff and faculty. Attendance at University or department committee meetings as assigned is expected.
