The Assistant Director of Club Sports is responsible for the successful development of 35+ sports clubs with over 1,000 participants. Responsibilities include advising, developing and training club leaders and coaches, managing all club financial transactions and the budget allocation process, establishing and enforcing risk and travel management procedures, scheduling practices and competitions, and ensuring compliance with university regulations. Additional responsibilities include hiring, training, and supervising a part-time staff of 10-15 Club Sport Attendants and a Graduate Assistant. The Assistant Director of Club Sports is a vital member of a Campus Recreation team of professional staff and will assist in developing and facilitating the growth of recreational programs for the university community, promoting departmental programs, assisting with departmental special events and serving on university committees. This position is a member of the Campus Recreation Assistant Director Leadership Team and directly reports to the Associate Director of Programs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Sport Administration or a related field
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
Knowledge of program administration, management, and budget management.
Ability and willingness to work as part of a team to achieve higher levels of excellence.
Proven knowledge of Microsoft software, desktop publishing and web design applications.
Ability to coordinate marketing and communications for a diverse program and population.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to collaborate with and relate to diverse groups within a university community.
Master’s Degree in Recreation Administration, Physical Education, Sport Management or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in program administration, management, and budget management.
Two years of experience in a college or university setting.
CPR/AED instructor certification.
