Responsible for the daily operations and administration of the intramural sports and sport club programs. Has autonomy to analyze and resolve problems, and determine appropriate action. Supervises numerous student coordinators, student supervisors and student officials. Provide recommendations for the development of program budgets and, oversees implementation and monitoring of budget, inventory and other resources. Makes recommendations for policy changes.
Responsible for supervision of Graduate Assistants, intramural & sport club participants, supervisors, officials, scorekeepers, and playing areas.
Serve as point of contact for intramural staff, team captains, and participants. Including conducting captains meetings before league play.
Develop, present and implement on-going staff development training programs and implement a detailed official's training program which will evaluate officials to ensure proper progression and development.
Implement risk management procedures to include student travel and emergency action plans. Effectively train and empower students to respond appropriately to incidents.
Compile reports on injury, incident and attendance for the intramural and sports clubs program in addition to doing periodic equipment inventory.
Perform administrative tasks to support program delivery (i.e. student staff schedules and time sheets, intramural logs, expense reports, coordinate registration procedures, schedule leagues, tournaments, and special events.)
Prepare, coordinate, and help market for intramural and sports club programs as designed with the Coordinator of Marketing and Membership.
Ensure proper enforcement of policies and procedures governing the conduct of participants, including all forms, waivers & releases, score sheets, participation records, etc.
Regularly inspect program areas and equipment for possible problems or improvement.
Assist with developing student-learning outcomes, developing division wide initiatives, and assist with Campus Recreation assessment on programming, education and activities to enhance student learning and improve the student experience.
Collects, analyzes, and reports information to be used for reports; prepares reviews and edits various annual and periodic reports as well as relevant sections of the website and departmental materials.
Develop and manage the Competitive Sports program budgets, which include payroll and equipment for both program areas (sport clubs and IM’s.)
Maintain highly detailed and up-to-date records on all club finances. Be available to meet with clubs to assist with budget questions and needs.
Coordinate and advise Club Sports Council and Executive Board Meetings
Serve on Division, University and Community committees as assigned.
Master’s degree in Sports Administration, Recreation, Athletic/Recreation Administration, Physical Education, Business Administration and/or related field required.
2-3 years of relevant experience in competitive sports programming in a collegiate setting.
2-3 years of progressive sports and competition management experience to include programming, officials training and selection and maintenance of sport specific equipment in a collegiate setting.
Strong background in the hiring, training, and mentoring of student officials for multiple sports.
Demonstrated experience in collegiate Sport Club management and supervision including student organization advising, resource management, budgeting, program evaluation and risk management
Membership and participation in the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA).
