The Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness administers a comprehensive campus fitness and wellness program designed to meet the diverse needs of the Loyola University community, including the hiring, training and evaluation of student employees, management of the Fitness Center, Group Exercise programming, Personal Training and Fitness Assessment programming, Nutrition and Wellness.
In collaboration with the Wellness Infusion Network, serve as key contributor to the development of a campus wide wellness program.
Assess, identify, propose and implement innovative plans to address campus health trends.
Collaborate with on and off campus offices to plan, implement and evaluate theory informed, evidence based health promotion strategies, policies, programs and services.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for the Fitness Center to include related programming.
Coordinate the purchasing, inventory, maintenance and inspections of all fitness equipment following manufacturer and industry standards including proper layout and space allocations for cardio & strength equipment.
Serve as the Department’s primary representative on a wide variety of physical activity and exercise science matters.
Develop and administer incentive programming for members.
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate Group Exercise Instructors and Personal Trainers. Maintain policies and procedures for the Group Exercise, Personal Training and Fitness Assessment programs.
Schedule Group Exercise programming/classes on a semester basis.
Oversee fitness testing/assessment, body composition screenings and fitness equipment orientations.
Develop small scale special events and department programs utilizing personal training staff. Teach scheduled classes on an as needed basis.
Develop and implement special event programming targeting students, to include a large-scale signature event per year.
Coordinate with other Campus Departments and student groups for joint special event programming.
