Reporting to the Director for Campus Recreation, the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation has primary responsibility for assisting with the management and supervision of the Coordinator of Intramurals and Club Sports and Membership Services staff and managing student employment training, payroll and time sheets, Instructional Programs, Fusion and SubItUp software, celebratory events, awards and promotion, and assessment coordination. This position is a full-time, 12 month position and is available immediately.
Create and oversee staff hiring, on-boarding, and training for all student and instructional program employees. Develop training schedule for student supervisor training. Plan and schedule in-service training throughout the year. Responsible for direct supervision of all Membership Services and instructional program employees.
Responsible for maintaining budgets for assigned areas. Assist with daily financial tasks, including deposits, reconciling transactions, record keeping etc. Serve as the backup professional staff for departmental daily deposits.
Participate actively in campus events in order to support the College community and provide a leadership presence. Serve on Divisional/College Committees. Chair the Campus Recreation Student Employment Committee.
Responsible (manage and troubleshoot) for membership software (Fusion) including all aspects related to the membership services station.
Develop and implement member services policies & procedures including (but not limited to) membership sales, guest passes, locker services, etc.
Ensure all paperwork is properly filled out for student staff and submitted to career services for processing. Ensure all timesheets match SubItUp software prior to submission of by-weekly payroll.
Oversee the Bikeshare and instructional programs.
Administer assessment for the department, including being an active member on the campus wide assessment committee, and development assessment priorities.
Oversee the student learning outcomes for all student employee trainings.
Compile participation and annual reports for the Director of Campus Recreation.
Assist with marketing of all Campus Recreation programs through electronic and conventional mediums during the academic year. Create ways to regularly communicate the results to the patrons who use the programs utilizing Digital Signage, Daily Eagle, Social Media, APP, etc.
Provide support and oversee the development of 1 student supervisor and approximately 20 Membership Services.
Provide direct supervision of the Coordinator of Intramurals and Club Sports.
Manage annual budget of approximately $125,000, monitoring expenses, and developing additional revenue opportunities.
Position requires working some weekend and evening hours.
Master’s Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Science, Recreation or related field accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization; minimum of three years of professional experience in a collegiate recreation setting; strong interpersonal, motivational, communication and relational skills; ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population; computer proficiency to prepare budgets, reports, and programming materials; and, must be able to be First Aid, CPR/AED Instructor Certified within six months of employment.
Minimum of five years of professional experience in a collegiate recreation setting; active member of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) or equivalent in a closely related professional organization; CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor certified; experience with membership based software; experience in assessment collection and report writing; and, experience working with websites and software packages (IM Leagues, CollegiateLink, Fusion, Reach, SubItUp)
