INSTITUTION/DEPARTMENT: The University of Houston is a Division I college with over 45,000 undergraduate and post graduate students enrolled. Campus Recreation has a $53 million facility that contains five basketball courts, five volleyball courts, a Multi-Activity-Court for indoor soccer, in-line hockey, team handball, badminton and tennis. The quarter mile suspended track surrounds all of the courts, one of the largest indoor climbing walls in Texas, as well as a 24,000 square foot fitness zone containing free weights, selectorized and cardio equipment. There are also five group fitness studios and a fully padded training space available for group exercise and personal training. The aquatic facilities include a 70-meter competition pool, indoor spa, dry sauna, as well as an outdoor leisure pool, outdoor spa, and sand volleyball court.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Coordinator is responsible for the day to day operatoin and staff supervision of a comprehensive Recreational Sports program that consist of Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs and Camps/Family Programs. The Coordinator will also assist with development , long-range planning and assessment, budget, risk management, and maintains accurate records of participation. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports and Family Programs.
Job Duties: Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate undergraduate student staff and instructional assistant (GA).
Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day activities for Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, and Camps/Family Programs, act as key contact.
Assist with program management through use of IM Leagues platform, When to Work, Fusion and Connect2 software.
Cultivate an inclusive, safe, and diverse environment for students as well as student staff; address patron comments, concerns, behavior, and conduct issues as necessary.
Assist with marketing and promoting for the Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs and Camps/Family Programs.
Assist with developing and administering training programs for student employees, club officers and coaches.
Assist with creating, forecasting, monitoring, and allocating the various budgets associated with the position, which includes Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs and Camps/Family Programs; purchase and maintain program equipment and supplies.
Assist with the scheduling of all Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs and Camps/Family Program facilities to ensure all user groups receive appropriate space.
Serve on internal and external committees, work groups and collaborate with campus partners to provide programs and events.
Assess, evaluate and mitigate risk for programs through direct supervision and management of programs; implement policies and procedures; maintain accurate records; create various reports, and contract agreements.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Recreation or related field. Master's degree preferred. One year of professional experience directly related to intramural sports, sport clubs or family programming. Applicants should demonstrate ability to lead and manage graduate, undergraduate student staff, interns and volunteers. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrated leadership ability are also desirable. Candidate must possess American Red Cross CPR. AED, First Aid certifications; instructor certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
