The Department of Campus Recreation at West Virginia University employs a team of nine Graduate Assistants in the areas outlined below. Graduate Assistants work collaboratively with professional staff and each other towards achieving our mission of providing exceptional recreation, wellness, and education opportunities that meet the needs of West Virginia University and the surrounding community.
Graduate Assistants will be responsible for staff supervision, administrative duties, project management, and event management. All Graduate Assistants will receive facility management experience while performing Evening Supervision on a rotation basis.

Positions are designed as two one-year contracts covering the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic years.

For those interested in the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (CPASS), they offer on-campus MS programs in Coaching/Sport Education and Sport Management. Passionate about student development and the mentoring of student employees
Demonstrated ability to work with students, student organizations, faculty/staff, and community groups.
Demonstrated ability to lead diverse groups of individuals employing flexibility in management techniques, appropriate to a variety of situations.
Possess and apply an entrepreneurial approach to planning and problem solving.
Knowledge and ability to manage multiple programs/events at multiple facilities,
Knowledge and ability to effectively handle public relations.
Strong time management and supervisory skills.
Area specific knowledge built by previous hands-on experience
Additional Salary Information: Stipend is August to May, with optional summer employment. Prorated, this stipend is equivalent to a minimum of $1500 per month, $6750 for a regular semester. GA position includes a University tuition waiver and payment of the student health insurance premium. Tuition waivers are granted to cover nine credits of course work during the fall and spring semesters.
