Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is pleased to announce that it will be accepting applications for a Intramural Graduate Internship for the Recreation Department under the Division of Student Affairs beginning in the 2019-20 academic year. We are seeking applicants with recreation experience in Sport, who are looking to expand their experience in a student development focused environment. The position will assist in coordinating the Intramural program at our four recreation facilities on the New Brunswick campus, as well as other events within Recreation.
Any offer made to a qualified candidate will follow a determination by the faculty of the College Student Affairs Ed.M. Program that the applicant is eligible for admission to the Graduate School of Education. Must also pass a background check.
The position is a two-year commitment subject to satisfactory evaluations and good academic standing while completing the requirements for a Masters of Education in College Student Affairs within the two-year period.
The qualified candidate will receive the equivalent of in-state tuition remission, a yearly stipend of $11,000, and a parking pass stipend of $200.

As part of the Division of Student Affairs, under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Sport and the Intramural Coordinator, the Intramural Graduate Intern will:
Oversee all scheduling of Intramural games, leagues and special events.
Act as lead coordinator for the Keller League, the Intramural program Fraternity component.
Assist in recruiting, training, hiring, scheduling, evaluating, and mentoring student staff.
Manage special events throughout the year, including University-wide all-campus tournaments.
Be available for potential nights and weekends as part of the work schedule.
Provide office hours during the day to be available for intramural employees and participants.
Assist in the development and implementation of an assessment program for intramural's each year. Use results to evaluate and improve the program.
Assist in formulating the yearly intramural equipment list and budget. With the oversight of the Assistant Director of Sport, will submit the budget for Scarlet Sports.
Manage equipment and inventory for the Intramural sports program.
Develop and schedule new and innovative one day special events for the intramural program.
Represent the Program and the Department of Recreation at other university related events, conferences, and extramural tournaments.
Prepare a monthly report outlining that month’s achievements and an annual report that summarizes the achievements of the past year.
Embody and utilize the department's Mission, Vision and Values to improve and maintain program excellence.
Other duties as assigned.
Mid-August to Mid-May. Two year internship commitment. Second year renewable based on performance evaluation of first year and good academic standing while completing the degree requirements within a two-year period. 20 hours/week with the potential of nights and weekends as part of the work schedule
Summer employment is available and encouraged working the department's 8 week summer day camp (40 hours/week) providing additional income.
4-year Bachelor’s Degree.
Interest in attaining a Masters Degree in College Student Affairs (CSA).
Acceptance into the CSA program as determined by the faculty of the College Student Affairs ED.M Program within the Graduate School of Education.
CPR and First Aid Certification, or willingness to get certified within the first three months of employment.
Willingness to attain RU Defensive Driving certification within 60 days of employment.
Competencies/credentials that include training and supervising student leaders and student personnel.
Experience with intramural sports programming and sports officiating.
Related experience in recreational sports administration.
Knowledge of DoSportsEasy and IMLeagues management websites.
