Under broad supervision the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation Aquatics and Memberships will oversee the Burns Aquatics Center and assist with management of other recreational and student facilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop aquatics and other fitness and wellness programs and services to meet the needs of the LMU Community.
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate aquatics and recreation facility staff.
Serve as the liaison between Campus Recreation and the pool operations and maintenance staff in Facilities Management.
Supervise the membership coordinator in the Campus Recreation and Student Facilities department. Assist the coordinator in evaluating membership recruitment, retention and facility usage. Recommend changes to the Associate Director when appropriate. Ensure that all potential and existing members are properly identified and accurately recorded in the recreation management software system. Provide statistical and reporting information to the Associate Director as requested.
Work with the membership coordinator to oversee the membership/point of sale program and provide continuous support, education, and training to all campus recreation areas, including serving as the point person for all issues related to the campus recreation membership/point-of-sale system.
Coordinate updates to the recreation management software system and troubleshoot software issues. Serve as the primary contact with Information Technology Services.
Initiate revenue generation strategies to ensure that aquatics and other recreational programs meet or exceed financial projections.
Assist with developing budget and financial projections and monitor monthly financial statements for the membership services and marketing program.
Communicate expectations, policies, and guidelines of appropriate use of facilities to community members. Recommends improvements to policies and guidelines as needed.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a campus recreation or aquatics facility management. Experience with developing and supervising aquatics, fitness and wellness programming. Experience with student development and personnel management.
Practical experience working within an institution of Higher Education preferred.
Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.
Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of facility management, student staff supervision, and equipment and facility repairs. Ability to interact effectively with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and members.
Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries inclusive of complex, financial, and highly technical information.
