Texas A&M University-Commerce Campus Recreation is seeking a coordinator in our Outdoor Adventure program! Come join our dynamic and exciting team as we strive to provide high-quality programs for our students and campus community!
The Coordinator of Outdoor Adventure will assist the Assistant Director of Outdoor Adventure in running a comprehensive Outdoor Adventure Program. This coordinator will organize, implement, lead and evaluate selected outdoor activities (i.e. clinics, workshops or trips).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for day to day operations of Climbing Wall, and Trips/Clinics Program.
Assists with the development and implementation of long-term and short-term Outdoor Adventure program goals.
Organizes, schedules, implements, leads and evaluates outdoor recreation activities including clinics, workshops, and trips.
Supervises, operations and maintains the rock climbing facility which includes but is not limited to inspecting equipment, route setting, and route maintenance.
Assists with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating all outdoor student staff. Main focus will be with student trip leaders.
Assists with the budget, purchases, inventory and maintenance of equipment used to run the Outdoor Adventure Program.
Develops new programs for campus and the wider Texas A&M University-Commerce community.
Assists with events or programs within Campus Recreation.
Attends national and regional workshops or conferences. Serves on national, regional, university or departmental committees.
Assists with all other areas of Outdoor Adventure program as needed.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Kinesiology and Sport Management, Outdoor Recreation, Business or related field.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Two (2) years’ experience in outdoor programming in a formal outdoor program (graduate assistantships, undergraduate, and internships are acceptable for considering full-time equivalencies to meet minimum years’ experience)
Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Master’s degree in Recreation, Kinesiology and Sport Management, Outdoor Recreation, Business or related field
First Aid & CPR Instructor Certification
Climbing Wall Instructor or Single Pitch Instructor
Wilderness 1st Responder (Required to obtain if hired).
