The university has been recognized as one of the nation’s “Great Colleges to Work For” by the Chronicle of Higher Education, while the Grove is consistently recognized as one of college football’s premier tailgating locations.
Our department is committed to helping staff members reach their full potential. Opportunities for professional development and continuing education are highly encouraged. Our TEAM CR values promote student development of professional competencies, with an emphasis on providing students the transferable skills necessary for the 21st century workforce. Our new team member should be committed to enhancing our department, institution, and community.
The individual serving in this position will play a vital role in opening a new, 98,000 SF recreation center in the spring of 2019, which will include several innovative elements, including one of the nation’s only collegiate recreation indoor high-ropes courses and a 6,000 SF functional training zone (4,000 SF inside, 2,000 SF outside). The centerpiece of the facility will be north Mississippi’s only indoor climbing wall. There will be abundant fitness space (25,000 SF), three fitness studios, two basketball courts, a multi-activity court, walking/jogging track, classroom with demonstration kitchen, and a convenience store. Services for wellness education, outdoor programming, and personal training will also have dedicated spaces. Two fields for intramural sports, sport clubs, and informal recreation will be located adjacent to the facility. A sidewalk will link the building to the South Campus Rail Trail, providing indoor and outdoor recreational options for our community.
