As the Fitness & Wellness Graduate Assistant you will be an integral member of the fitness staff. This position will report to the Fitness & Wellness Coordinator and is expected to work 20 hours/week for a standard academic year (mid-August through the end of April), summer employment is also available. The starting date will be January 7, 2019 and go until graduation.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supervision, administration, planning, promoting and expansion of the Group Fitness, Personal Training, Massage Therapist, and the Tiger Fit wellness program
Management of the group fitness program and instructors including creating fitness schedules, evaluating instructors, providing instructor development opportunities and promoting the benefits of healthy lifestyles
Compile statistics and reports for group fitness, personal training, and massage therapy
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of special events
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
Be admitted to, and remain in good standing throughout the master's program, to the Graduate School
Experience working in a fitness and/or recreation center is preferable
Have a nationally recognized personal training and/or group fitness certification
CPR/AED and First Aid certification (required within 30 days of employment)
Leadership and supervisory skills
Enthusiastic and entrepreneurial spirit
Ability to collaborate with professional staff as well as the ability to work independently
Analytical skills with the ability to write concise, logical reports
Creative skills for advertising/marketing
